Weekly Vocabulary

Raw is a file that contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, image scanner, or motion picture film scanner. 

Tiff is a flexible, adaptable file format for handling images and data within a single file, by including the header tags the image's geometry.

JPEG is a lossy compression technique for color images. Although it can reduce files sizes to about 5% of their normal size, some detail is lost in the compression.
